New Features
  • Added the new Morale Boost system
    • Characters who did not participate in expeditions have a chance to gain a 2-tiered buff: Ambitious and Enthusiastic
    • Ambitious buff
      • Obtain a class skill at the start of the expedition
      • Gain increased combat stats
    • Enthusiastic buff
      • Obtain an upgraded class skill at the start of the expedition
      • Two starting skills are upgraded
      • Gain increased combat stats
  • Added the Talent Skill system
    • Added 2 new Talent passives for each character
    • Talent passives are included in the skill card pool
  • Added the Blessed Relic system
    • Relics now have a chance to be given as an upgraded version as Blessed Relics
    • Blessed Relics provide enhanced effects

  • Added the Relic Exchanger item
    • Relic Exchanger replaces a relic with another random relic

Changes and Improvements
  • Changed the “Random” encounter to “Chaos” encounter

    • Added relevant new encounter events
    • “Chaos” encounters are not bound to specific rewards, meaning they could give rewards normally unavailable from Forked Road encounters
    • Blessed version of “Chaos” encounters will give an additional reward based on dice roll
  • Shortened some combat scenarios by reducing the number of enemies and combat dialogue lines
  • Reduced text and selection steps for certain encounters, especially when you are seeing them multiple times
  • Temporary allies now also receive various effects
    • Altar of Fire upgrades (including Greater Blessing effects) now apply to temporary allies as well
    • “Wear and Tear” and “Unbalanced Diet” trial effects now apply to temporary allies as well
  • Unguardable attacks will no longer be guarded even if the enemy unit has a guaranteed Guard chance
  • Improved audio/visual effects for Greater Blessings (sword, spear, and bow) from the Altar of Fire
  • Relic encounters now have a chance to grant a piece of the staff relic
  • Combined the “Partnership Points” encounter and the “Blessed Signs” encounter
    • Rewards have been adjusted accordingly
  • The Workshop now unlocks alongside Chamber of Trials, instead of after beating a Trial expedition
    • It is now possible to craft an accessory as soon as you unlock Trials, with the Mana Core given for free
  • When scrolling through the combat menu, the cursor now cycles in a loop instead of ending at the first/last option
  • Controllers now have dedicated hot keys for “Swap Weapons” and “Wait”/“Defend” commands
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed the issue where the Tree of Life’s interaction icon showed on incorrect tiles, if it was moved by the Behemoth’s “Crashing Ram” skill
  • Fixed the issue where the “Counterstrike” effects were not properly applied under certain conditions
  • Fixed the issue where certain non-combat events did not appear
  • Fixed the issue where the “Blade of Balance” item would get discounted if the “Conspirator’s Ring” relic was acquired from the shop; “Blade of Balance” cannot be discounted
  • Fixed the issue where you could not assign a key for custom “Rotate Battlefield” keybind, if the same key was assigned in a previous attempt that timed out before completing

Changes and Improvements
New Expedition Difficulty Options
  • Added difficulty selection, “Witch’s Wrath” and “Witch’s Whisper.” This replaces the previous God Mode feature.

Combat Difficulty Adjustments
  • The number of Vermiliths appearing in the Vermilith battle has been reduced, and other monster enemies now appear instead.  
  • The failure condition for villager rescue maps has changed from “3 or more villagers killed” to “All allies defeated.” Successfully rescuing 3 villagers now grants additional rewards instead.  
  • In the second Bernhardt battle, the damage reduction from his defense stance has been lowered from 90% to 50%.  
  • In the third Bernhardt battle, Bernhardt’s HP recovery effect when receiving a critical hit now only activates while linked to his “Umbral Chains.”  
Relic Improvements
  • Cracked Wind-Up Soldier
    Deals 15 damage to all enemies whenever an ally is defeated. Triggers up to 3 times per battle.
  • Scholar’s Candelabrum
    Speaking to an ally at camp raises their Physical/Magic Attack and Physical/Magic Defense by +3. This relic can be used 2 times, then no more.
  • Luminescent Box
    At the start of the Ally Turn, any allies below half health regain 15 HP.
  • Bloody Effigy
    For every status effect on an ally, they gain +3 Physical and Magic Attack, but -2 max HP.
  • Tattered Banner
    Allies under 60% HP gain +10 to Physical and Magic Attack.
  • Notched Hilt
    Upon acquiring, the max HP of all allies is reduced by 10. With each successive victory, max HP goes up by 5 (caps at +20).
Trap Skill Adjustments
  • Increased gold obtained from the “Pillaging Trap” effect.
  • Increased damage dealt by “Bomb Snare.” 
Name and Text Updates
  • Added clarification that the “Phantom Grudge” area created by the “Dark Phantom” skill lasts for 5 turns. 
  • Renamed couple of Bernhardt’s effects: 
    • “Melee Defense Stance” → “Riposte” 
    • “Ranged Defense Stance” → “Repel”
  • Adjusted some achievement description wording for better clarity
System & Visual Improvements
  • When rerolling skills/stat cards, the card immediately before it will not appear again. 
  • Added tutorials for certain enemy and elite enemy skills. 
  • Added visual effects to help identify status effects. 
  • New status effect visuals for Bernhardt’s “Riposte” and “Repel.”  
  • Passive effect visuals for Fellheart’s “Shadow Armor” and “Shadow Shield.” 
  • You can now find hints for recruiting new characters starting right after the prologue.

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed an issue where Vermilith would use Devour while under “Immobilized” status.  
  • Fixed an issue in the third Fellheart battle where Fellheart only used “Shadow Cyclone” once. 
  • Fixed a bug where Elena could make multiple moves under specific conditions while in “Lone Wolf” state.  
  • Fixed an issue where when in Concealed state, counterattack damage did not show in preview.  
  • Fixed an issue of “Lantern of the Dead” relic effect triggering when summons caused enemy retreats.  
  • Fixed a progression blocker where, if “Raven Contract” and “Pumpkin Seed Bundle” relics were both owned, and “Pumpkin Seed Bundle” became disabled due to a crisis event, the player could no longer interact with the Raven thereby halting the expedition.
  • Fixed an issue where Behemoth would use the “Crashing Ram” skill on units in “Concealed” state.
  • Fixed an issue where the game could softlock in a certain combat scenario under specific conditions

We are bringing balance changes to accelerate permanent progression and ease the difficulty spike with the following changes–on top of bug fixes!

Changes/Improvements

As mentioned in our dev log, we are adjusting rewards as below, in order to improve the ratio of persistent progression to gameplay.

  • Increased the number of Rune Fragment drops
    Increased the number of Rune Fragment drops from boss fights, in order to reduce the time it takes to promote all characters/classes.

    • Act 1 Boss: 1 → 4
    • Act 2 Boss: 2 → 4
    • Act 3 Boss: 3 → 4
    • Act 4 Boss 1: 1 → 2
    • Act 4 Boss 2: 1 → 2
  • Increased the amount of Partnership Points obtained after winning a battle
    Increased the rate of acquiring Partnership Points. We would like to help expedite reaching Partnership Level 3 sooner.

    • Partnership Points Obtained per Battle: 10 → 20
  • Increased the number of Sacred Embers obtained after winning a battle
    Based on feedback that the Sacred Ember is slow to collect, we are making the following adjustments to Sacred Ember drops. We hope this provides a better player experience, in getting the team stronger through the Altar of Fire relative to the overall playtime.

    • Changed the base Sacred Ember drop from witting normal battles: 2 → 4
    • Changed the number of Sacred Embers dropped from winning boss battles: 3/5/10 → 5/10/15
  • Increased the rewards obtained from treasure chests in battle
    Based on feedback that rewards from treasure chests are underwhelming compared to the time/effort they take, we increased the drops for some rewards from treasure chests.

    • Gold: 100-150 → 300-500
    • Sacred Embers: 1-2 → 3-5
  • Improved Laurent’s spell attacks
    Based on feedback around Laurent’s spell cast range, we increased the range of the following spells, in order to make Laurent and his spells more effective.

    • Increased the range of Fireball, Hydro Bomb, and Glacial Gale
    • Increased the Power value of Greater Fireball
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash
  • Fixed the issue where a concealed unit would be revealed, if it was healed while in concealment
